Our History

This initiative was conceived in the year 2018 and was shared with my colleague, Dr. Taye Adeyanju in year 2019. It started as a club named “Unibadan Biodiversity Conservation Club”. This initiative took off with 16 members who willingly joined as volunteers. We decided to start this volunteer work in our “Jerusalem” which is Awba dam in the University of Ibadan. In October, 2020, we went to some residential quarters, obtained permission to cut flowers and plant in polypots. That day, we established a flower nursery which was transplanted along the road of Awba dam at the beginning o f the raining season in year 2021. A brand new brush cutter was purchased on the 19 June, 2021 and this has been put to use since then. In August, 2021, we established another flower nursery. This club transited to “Initiative for Biodiversity Conservation in Sub-Saharan Africa” in year 2021.
